4/15/04 - Splinter Cell- Pandora Tomorrow

Well what can I say, Ubi Soft has done it again. Not only is the gameplay improved, but they have added new features that make the game even better than before.

This time around you have more than one way to complete a mission. If you get stuck at an area in the game, there are usually 2 or 3 different ways to get out of the situation. You get a good amout of items right after your first level, so you will be able to start enjoying the game almost immediately. If your familiar with the first game, then you will be able to jump in and play this one without a problem.

The major new feature this time around is the addition of Xbox Live. This game is fantastic online. It might be somewhat limited but it as fun as it can be to play. The object of the game is basicly to be a spy or merc (mercenery).

You have 2 players as spies and 2 players as mercenaries. When the game starts, you choose which side you want. If your a spy, you have certain objectives to meet. If you are a Merc, then you will need to find & stop the spies. It's not as easy as it sounds but when you get good at it, the game is fantastic.

Graphicly, the game is beautiful better than the first and one of the best on xbox now. Sounds are amazingn and creates some great atmosphere for the game.

4/15/04 - Fight Night 2004

First off let me say that this game is a great improvement over the Knockout King series. Gameplay, Graphics and sound have all been dramatickly improved. One thing I will tell you is that the game will take some getting used to for the controls. The right analog stick control is great but you do need to get used to it. For people who cannot adjust to it, you can change the settings to make it like the old games and use the face buttons to control the hitting features, thanks to EA for giving us this option.

The collision detection has been improved greatly and your boxers reactions to punches are based on true physics and it ads a great look to the game. You have all the modes you expect, trainning mode, career mode, create a boxer mode and exhibition mode. You have all the boxers you would expect form true classic greats like Mohammed Ali to todays boxers and some made up boxers.

The only flaw that I feel the game has is the Hip Hop announcer they use to introduce the matches and fighters, I think they could have done without this and hopefully they will change this for the next version. He can just be annoying at times and it just doesnt feel like he fits in to the game.

If you are into boxing, then this is defenitely a great buy. Even if there was other boxing games available, I don't think they would match up to this.

Game Play - 10
Graphics - 10
Sound - 9
Presentation - 8.5 (Not rated that high only because of the Hip Hop announcer)
Fun Value - 10
Replay Value - 8.5

Let me start off buy saying that this game has received some unfair reviews. Most reviews say the commentary is off, they say there is no crowd noise and they say that there really isn't much improvement overall of the game.  If you were to nitpick at every little thing and really try to find every little thing wrong then you could come up with some issue but nothing more than what we have sen in the past. I'm not saying these shouldn't be corrected but they don't kill the gameplay.

The announcing is done by Jon Miller and Rex Hudler and they do a real good job. Every once in a while the announcers do say the wrong thing but it's far and few between. They also talk about specific things in regards to the players teams & even the stadiums, very nice touch.

The crowd noise IS there and it is really good and acurate. They heckle, they cheer for their team when something happens and they boo the visiting team (one thing I have noticed around the xbox community is that some people do not have their audio set up right on the xbox and this can cause the crowd noise to be very low or off completely, before you get upset, check your settings).

Graphicly the game has been touched up. It is not leaps and bounds beyond world series baseball 2k3 but it is noticeable. It looks cleaner and sharper and the stadiums are awesome. Tons of new animations like broken bats, on deck hitters and curtain calls add to the realism. New camera angles make it feel like a TV broadcast more than ever.

Gameplay has been improved and new fielding animations make it look more real than ever. The fielders plays are more lifelike and their reactions are even better. Espn has added some new effects to the pitching engine, such as an effort meter where you can adjust how much effort your pitcher puts into his pitch (really good if he is tired and you need that one last umph on the pitch). Players also have a confidence meter which gains or loses depending on how your player is doing, another nice touch.

This year Espn Baseball brings us online play and for the most part, it is alot of fun. I have noticed that some people are having disconnection problems during their game but I think its a combination of just some bad connections and a little tinkering on the game company's behalf.

All the modes you expect are hear with a few new features:

Gm Mode
Exhibition Mode
Season mode
First Person Baseball Mode
Duel Mode
Gamecast Mode

What can I say, this game is the best of the bunch so far, with better graphics and sound. The major improvement to this game is the online feature, but overall yhis game is ahead of last years version and shouldn't be missed. See you at the ballgame.
